Free Early Learning
Free Early Learning sessions will support your child with their learning and development and will also give them a head start when they begin school. All three and four year olds are entitled to up to 15 hours of Free Early Learning for 38 weeks of the year. Our Free Early Learning factsheet [PDF 45kb] details more about children's entitlement. A small number of children are entitled to Free Early Learning from the age of two. For more information, read Free Childcare for Two Year Olds.

What exactly is my child entitled to?
Our Free Early Learning factsheet [PDF 45kb] answers lots of the frequently asked questions parents have such as 'when can my child start receiving their free entitlement?' and 'will I have to pay anything?'
If you have questions that aren't answered in this factsheet, or you need further advice about Free Early Learning, please speak to your childcare provider or contact us.
The Early Years Foundation Stage
All childcare providers who offer Free Early Learning sessions deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This means that they must follow a legal document called the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. This framework sets out the standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to five. You can find out more about this by speaking to your childcare provider, or read the Parents Guide to the EYFS [PDF 1.43MB].
You can find out more about the different early years childcare options available to you on our looking for childcare page and for more information on financial help for families you can download our family finance booklet.
