Bursary amounts 2014

Level 2

The childcare provider will pay the first £150 of the course fee, payable directly to the training provider.  The CEYC bursary will pay the remainder of the fee up to a maximum of £950.  If the course fee is more than £1100, the childcare provider setting will pay the balance in addition to the £150 already paid.

Level 3

The childcare provider will pay the first £250 of the course fee, payable to the training provider. The CEYC bursary will pay the remainder of the fee up to a maximum of £1150.  If the course fee is more than £1400, the childcare setting will pay the balance in addition to the £250 already paid.

For apprenticeships, these levels of payment apply to the Employer’s Contribution rather than the course fee.

Level 5 Open University Foundation Degree in Early Years modules

Open University students who have previously received a bursary from CEYC may apply for a bursary for further funding to complete their qualification. They stay on the lower rate until they finish their qualification or until 2017 and will pay £150 per module and the CEYC bursary will pay the balance.  There is no funding available for new OU students who have not received CEYC support in the past.

Foundation degrees, BA (hons) and Early Years Teacher Status

CEYC does not provide funding for qualifications above level 5. Students progressing to this level should talk to their Higher Education provider about funding options.

Checking international qualifications

If you are recruiting childcare staff with an international qualification, have a look at the UK NARIC website for details of the "Statement of Comparability". This is an officially recognised document that confirms the recognition of an overseas qualification and its comparable level in the UK.
